Social Navigation for Young Adults

Game-Based SOCIAL NAVIGATION for TEENS

  • Ages 13-16* (possibly some 17-18 year olds)

    *30 minute consultation required to assess group readiness

  • Every Monday, 6 PM

  • Play-based learning offers teens practical experience to help navigate life.

    In addition to gaining confidence and building self-esteem, skills learned through Game-Based play:

    • Social Dynamics and Interaction

    • Independent Decision Making

    • Problem Solving

    • Coping with Challenging Situations

    • Emotional Regulation

AutPlay Social Navigation Group

  • In addition to in-clinic sessions, each parent will have the opportunity to host* (see details below) a session.

    Parents of group attendees will be provided information to practice essential social navigation skills at home.

    AutPlay Therapy is a behavioral play therapy approach to working with children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder, developmental disabilities or other neurodivergences.

    AutPlay can help improve:

    emotional regulation

    social navigation

    social development

    relationship development

    relationship connection

    sensory processing challenges

    anxiety

    concentration

    focus and attention

    unwanted behaviors

    parent/child relationship

    An AutPlay Social Navigation group works specifically on social navigation skill activities that help the group members improve their interactions with other peers.

    *Parent-Hosted Sessions

    This is a fun way to facilitate opportunities for group members to further practice their skills, interact with each other in safe settings and develop friendships outside of group sessions.

    Parents also get to know each other and learn more about how to facilitate social navigation activities.

    There are no expectations of snacks or any expenses on your part, just the facilitation of real-life activities to practice group-learned skills outside of counseling offices, like meeting at the park or bowling. Ideas will be provided!

LEGO Club

  • Ages 6-10

  • Thursdays, 4:30

  • Play and build with Legos!

    In this form of therapy, children work together and are assigned roles – the engineer who has the instructions, the supplier who has the bricks, and the builder who puts the model together. The children take turns in assuming each responsibility. This method encourages collaboration and interaction with other children and is suitable for most age groups as it can be easily modified depending on specific needs and interests.
